Who does well in this role

A proficient data-engineering specialist, strong in developing complex end-to-end data solutions
Detail-oriented, with a structured approach to data modeling, pipeline development and documentation
Responsible, well-organized and cooperative — comfortable working independently and in cross-functional teams
Good at problem-solving, communication and building strong client relationships

Implement and maintain data platforms in Databricks and Microsoft Fabric
Design and develop data lakes based on the medallion architecture and dimensional data models
Build and optimize pipelines for data ingestion, load and transformation (ETL/ELT)
Develop and maintain semantic models based on business-user requirements
Ensure data quality, performance and reliability across the data platform

5+ years in Data Engineering or Business Intelligence
BI/data solutions on cloud data technologies — Microsoft Azure services in particular — plus on-prem stacks such as the SQL Server BI platform (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)
Designing and implementing Data Warehouses or Lakehouses and dimensional data models
Strong SQL and proficient DAX; tabular/semantic model development (Azure Analysis Services, Power BI / Microsoft Fabric)
ETL/ELT pipeline development (Databricks, Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure Data Factory)
Performance tuning of databases, complex queries and ETL packages
Analysis of business requirements, mapping documents and user stories
A plus: Python and CI/CD for BI solutions with Azure DevOps; Databricks and Fabric certifications; cloud-cost optimization; generative-AI-assisted development (Claude, MCP servers)
